Some moody watercolours

Hello everyone and thanks for dropping in here today.
Those of you who follow my blog and my work will know that I LOVE stamps. I am sure I have hundreds of them, if not more. BUT.... their one draw back is that they can make you lazy. It's so quick to ink up a stamp and press it down. Creating your own art work does take a lot longer....

Anyway, I thought it was high time to take out my paints and pencils once more and do some original artwork, going back to my first love, - watercolour.
So, today, as I am on holiday and have a little more time, I am sharing some of my recent watercolour explorations. A series of moody watercolours and a little portrait.

It's a story from winter into Spring, - so here goes:
A wintry one with the last patches of snow
Evening sun set
Pale winter sun in the late afternoon
River bank (the composition went wrong and I ran out of space for the foreground tree, - duh)....
This was meant to be more Spring like, but it all got a bit dark. I think I have been rather influenced by the weather here which has been rather dark lately.

And here is a little child's portrait, children's faces always fascinate me, it's so hard to capture their innocence...

Well, that's it for today, thanks for visiting and indulging me with my little arty efforts. I'll be back with some more crafty/ mixed media projects soon, meanwhile, hope you get time to do something creative!

Oh oh ohhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - how very very special is this post ASTRID..... (at least for me!). Your paintings are just... well... there isn't a good word... how about... WONDROUSLY UNIQUE and BEAUTIFUL. Although ALL are just GORGEOUS... the first two are my favorite. The first one reminds me of a day at the ranch - even looks like our fence!! And the second one... of course, has a shade of orange!!! I just keep going back to look.... soooo soooo peacefully lovely. And your little girl is precious too. Thanks bunches and bunches and bunches for sharing these..... MADE MY WEEK girl!!! XXj.

Astrid your watercolour artwork is beautiful, I especially love the colours of the evening sunset one, and even though you say it may be a little dark, I do like the Spring scene. You are very clever, I do wish I could watercolour like this and I do hope you will show us more as and when you get chance to do them. Mo x

Well Astrid, all I can say is - if I could watercolour as beautifully as you I would not have the need to use stamps at all. Your pictures are incredible, I love each one, but the sunset has stolen my heart, it is so beautiful! Hugs, Anne xx

Hallo liebe Astrid,

ich sitze hier und kann nur staunen. Wow, was für wundervolle Aquarellbilder.

You've been hiding this light under a bushel my friend, these are fabulous watercolours, beautifully composed, wonderful scenes and lots of atmosphere. I started with oils but would never go back to them but you have a talent here and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Xxx

Oh my goodness Astrid, such talent with a paintbrush, each and every one a sheer delight with different elements to draw the eye. I love anything Nature related and scenic work always draws me in art shops, and if I had to choose, which I am pleased I don't but that sunset would come close to the top alngside by the first with the fence.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Astrid, if I were you, and I'm not, but if I were...I'd throw out every crafty product and stamp I owned (Except those watercolors and pencils, of course), quit my daytime job, all those DT's and do nothing but paint all day!!! I'm not going to pick a favorite, because they are all wonderful displays of soulful watercolor landscapes, but I am amazed at the little girl most of all. Portraits are so hard to do, but you have captured the innocent inquisitive look of a child for sure! Amazing art, my dear! Hugs!

Absolutely beautiful. I have tried water colors in the past and found that they are far beyond any talent I possess, thus I so admire your work. Thank you ever so much for sharing. I also love your cards and stamped works.

These are fantastic Astrid! My first reaction, like some others above, is how did you even bother with stamps when you have such wonderful talent?!?! I hope you continue to paint more often. I love the very first one especially, but they are all terrific. Nicola x

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
